This three hour workshop course is suitable for anyone with an interest in finding out more about traditional gauged brick arches. Topics include the geometry of an arch, techniques for cutting bricks, and an examination of different types of arch in the locality. There will be demonstrations of drawing an arch, cutting bricks, and creating an arch.
Charles Reilly is a highly experienced craftsman with a passion for repairing heritage brick buildings. As the managing director of Georgian Brickwork Charles leads a small team of specialist bricklayers in Kent. Georgian Brickwork focuses on using traditional methods and materials to repair and restore listed and period properties. Charles started developing his training programme in 2016 to ensure that his knowledge and skills are passed on to the next generation of bricklayers.

Courses for heritage professionals, homeowners and others with an interest in the conservation of heritage brickwork take place in groups of between 5/10 depending on the topic. The focus of these courses is on informing and awareness raising. Many sessions also include a demonstration of a practical skill with opportunities to ask questions and discuss problems.
