Ellington Park Bandstand and Terrace, Ramsgate

Work Undertaken

In 2021, following on from their successful bid for Heritage Lottery funding, The Friends of Ellington Park and Thanet District Council began an ambitious project to regenerate Ellington Park, a much loved green space in the heart of Ramsgate. As well as building a new community cafe and play area they planned to restore the Victorian Bandstand and the original flint terrace.

Georgian Brickwork were delighted to get involved in the restoration of the Bandstand’s octagonal brick base. Decades of decay, vandalism and poor repairs in cement meant that many bricks had to be replaced. All the cement pointing was raked out and replaced with a lime mortar and once we had finished restoring the brickwork, our close associates M. Axell Stone Restoration fitted the stone caps on the top, and Lost Art Ltd recreated the wrought iron canopy.

Ellington Park is now fully restored and a vibrant well used community asset -big congratulations to The Friends of Ellington Park for their persistence!
